What I would like to do is alert a user reading an earlier file version into the new program that s/he must first convert the older file. Question: Is there any way I can tell, short of getting an exception, just by reading the file that the record size is <> to what I am looking for.

I have (3) partitions on my computer and the "Pagefile" or "Swap File" is located on my "C" partition. I have 512 mb of ram and the "Page File" has been allocated a minimum of approx 728 mb and a max of approx 1400mb. I'm obviously looking at the 'piracy' question. I've seen situations where the .xla seems to be presented as a .exe file/application. So, you simply fire up the 'whatever.exe' file and you're into Excel....sort of! I'm told that if you examine the dir where the .exe resides, then you will find no .xla or .xls files

I am able to play the files in windows though. How can I get my mac to reconise these files. I don't know. 2nd question. Is there a way to perform a character delete on a mac instead of having to use the arrow keys and backspacing? Depends on the application. Many apps will use the "delete" key for forward delete.
